The Woman in Black follows lawyer Arthur Kipps who leaves his son in London to take on a case involving a deceased woman's estate. When he arrives in town, he sees that people have locked their children inside in order to protect them from forces unseen. After spending the night there, he begins to see the vengeful specter of a lady whose eyes have been torn from their sockets. As he uncovers the mysteries of the town and ghost he discovers a sordid past of murder and supernatural terror.
